Do Colon Cleansers Work?

Many people have heard about colon cleansers and have one question, "Do colon cleansers work?"

The answer is that colon cleansing works, it's the particular colon cleanser product or colon cleansing routine you use that may or may not work.

It's also the type of colon or bowel problem you're trying to combat. If you have a yeast problem, and are trying to rid yourself of candida, then eating a diet high in flour or bread products will defeat your colon cleanser.

Your diet plays a key roll in the success of your colon cleansing program or cleanser product.

I recently read an article on Live Science, which supposedly debunked the colon cleansing theories of the early 1900’s and drew a parallel to today’s colon cleanser users as being unaware of what was happening in their systems. That the headaches and bloat that occur during constipation were a result of the colon expanding and that the 1920’s theory of autointoxication had been totally proven to be untrue.

Well, yes, of course the 1920’s theory was untrue. We don’t have to be brain surgeons to understand they didn’t have the science to come up with why colon cleansing was good for you. What I felt was noteworthy about the article was the one comment it got.

The comment simply stated that the writer had never tried a colon cleanser, and had no idea how much better it made a person feel. The comment received 147 thumbs up, with no one feeling the need to debate the issue any further.

So, if you’ve ever felt isolated or misunderstood on the issue of colon cleansing, trust me, you are not alone. There are a lot of people out there, who use a colon cleanser on a regular basis, they simply don’t discuss it openly.

There are different types of colon cleansing:

  • Colon hydrotherapy or Colonic irrigations – Enemas fall under this category
  • Laxatives
  • Herbal Colon Cleansing Products
  • Oxygen Colon Cleansing Products

Colon cleanser products are big business. Monthly doses of herbal or oxygen colon cleansers can run as high as $50. Colema boards for colon hydrotherapy can easily cost $250.

Laxatives, while cheap, have a hidden price.
There is a great deal of laxative abuse by people who are dieting and the more you use laxatives, the more dependent your system can become on laxatives.

Colon cleansing, like everything else, can be dangerous if done improperly or if not done in moderation.

If you’re sensible about using colon cleansers and do your research on the different types of cleansers out there, you’ll be able to experience what millions of other colon cleanser users have safely experienced.
